RE: Bedroom TV in 2008 35HD Seneca

The problem is corrected by replacing the TV mount on the door. I bought an adjustable mount from Best Buy($20) which can swivel up as well as down. Reused one hole and drilled another to complete the installation. Once the TV is swiveled down you will see a remarkable difference in brightness and clarity. The ability to swivel left and right and up and down makes it comfortable for DW and self.

RE: USB Drive Letter Assignment

The drives are dynamically assigned by the operating system. The first USB inserted will get the lowest drive letter after the fixed drives. Works the same way in XP.

Seneca Slide-out Waterproofing

I have a 2008 35GS and am a bit confused over the slide-out waterproofing methodology. The slide-out for the dining area has its roof covered with a rubber membrane. Neither the kitchen nor the bedroom slide-outs are protected in the same way. The three slides all have awnings covering them. I've not experienced any water leakage that I'm aware of. I'm just wondering about why the difference. Any feedback from other Seneca owners would be appreciated. (Every time I use it, I encounter things which I don't understand. The journey continues).

RE: SENECA MIRROR

As AZ99 states, just move the entire assembly out just a little and it will stay there. The mirror assembly which attaches to the arm is fixed, it is not adjustable. Only the arm where it attaches to the vehicle can be moved. I went just a bit further and bought a 4" adjustable fisheye mirror which I attached to the upper right corner of the flat mirror. Makes a tremendous improvement in visibility.

RE: Replacing basement doors on Jayco Seneca HD 34ss

I have the 35GS and the doors are held in place by pop-rivets. I believe there are 5 or 6. You merely drill out the existing rivets and replace the door. It will just drop out of the hinge. then align the new door so that the holes line up and replace the pop-rivets with the same size as has been removed and you're good to go.

TV Power / Ignition interlock relay

Anyone know where the relay which turns off the TV power when the ignition is turned on is physically located in a Jayco Seneca HD 35GS. I just can't seem to locate it and haven't been able to find it in the threads. Thanks for your help.

CareFree of Colorado Awning Covers

I have slide-out awnings over the bedroom and dining area of my Jayco Seneca 35GS which do not have the upper covers. When I inquired of the manufacturer, the price quoted was in excess of $500 for the two covers. Have any of you folks with the same or similar units purchased these covers or found an alternate supplier? I damaged the end cap of one with a tree branch and having had it repaired, don't want to incur further damage. If there isn't an alternate source, I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet and get them from Colorado. Thanks for any info.

RE: Buying from rvdirect

I took delivery of my '08 Seneca HD 35GS from RVDIRECT in October of '07. I had a couple of issues which required warranty work. After speaking with the warranty department of RVDIRECT, they gave me the number of Jayco's warranty department. I explained the problem,(I too live in South Florida and my nearest dealer is 100 miles away), Jayco authorized a nearby service provider to perform the repair. At this point, I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with RVDIRECT (AlbanyRV) and Jayco. I might add, if you do purchase from Albany, you will be treated royally. First class hotel accommodation, use of a rental car and a demonstration as intense or cursory as you may wish. Good luck and happy camping.

RE: Jayco 31ss owners. Two thermostats?

In the 35GS, there are 3 thermostats. One in the bedroom which controls the air and associated fan, 1 in the living area which controls the air, fan and also controls the DC power for the furnace, (slide switch) and the 3rd which controls the coach temperature when operating the furnace.

RE: Seneca Satellite TV connection

I assume that your configuration is the same as my 2008. The top plate which has the booster, connects to the cable/satellite ports in the water utility basement outside and the roof antenna. (That is the top terminal goes to the terminal marked sat. The lower terminal marked cable and is aided by the booster is 'y' connected to the outside terminal marked cable and also to the pop-up roof antenna). With the booster 'on', the roof antenna is powered. With the booster 'off', cable function is effective. If you use the booster trying to watch cable, terrible reception. The lower plate, the one with the unused port serves the bedroom and the main TV. The unused port is prewired for a roof mounted satellite dish. You should find an un-terminated RG-6 cable in the access area near the rear of the LR TV. If you were to install such a dish, then this cable would connect the dish to the the unused port and give you access to the internal wiring. As you indicated the other port uses a splitter to connect from the port to the Bedroom TV and the main TV. There is also a port in the outside entertainment area for using an external tv. There should be a splitter which provides the signal to it. I have not checked mine. Hope it helps.

RE: Jayco Seneca Super C awning

I have the 35GS and also experienced problems with the awning. Just returned from a trip to Daytona and went through a pretty significant rain event. My solution was to use a broom, (bristle up) and prop the center of the awning, near the coach; with the handle in the window frame. Provided adequate pitch from the center to the ends so that the water didn't significantly build over the door area. When there was accumulation at the rear, the prop would collapse, drain the water and restore. We were in and out of the coach and really didn't have a problem. Design problem, sure. Useless, nah. JMHO.

RE: Changing to HD tv in a Newmar...

I've been trying for 2 days to get it to work. No success. I've been using the information provided by the H20 based on Zipcode. No luck. I've gone to dish pointing sites, they use different settings for the same Zip, no luck. I bought a satellite finding meter. I get signal on the meter, no luck with the dish. Anyone want to buy a Slimline sat antennae?

A little off the topic, but great pics of your Seneca. I just got a 2008 and will incorporate some of the changes for ours. Others have already been corrected.

RE: Seneca Inverter

I have a Seneca HD 35 GS. The inverter is in the bedroom, at the bottom of the chest of drawers. (Visible at the floor level.) Above the inverter is the fuse panel. There is a plastic cover over the fuses and immediately below that is another plastic cover which accesses the inverter circuit breakers and the inverter. You didn't specify the model Seneca but I hope this description will be of assistance.

RE: What MPG are you getting with the Kodiak Chassis?

Just brought our new Seneca HD 35GS back from Albany, NY. With it traveling BTTW, we got 9.1 MPG. We slowed a bit and MPG went to 9.5. On the final leg from Georgia to South Florida, I kept it to under 65 MPH and with only occasional increases to 70, MPG went to 11. Did not have a tow vehicle. The Kodiak is a C5500. I will be doing my traveling at between 60 and 65. When I was just 4-wheeling, I couldn't understand why all those MHs traveled so slowly on 70 MPH highways. I sure know now.

RE: Ignition Key In Lock

Thanks folks, I went to my Ford dealer and had a key made which opens the door as well as unlocking the steering column. It will not start the engine. I also had one made that has the chip for starting which I programmed. I'll be keeping both in the MH and will get a spare set of MH door keys to keep hidden in the toad. Thanks again for the feedback.

Ignition Key In Lock

I'm new to RV'ing and have stick 2007 Ford Fusion as a toad. The owners manual says to leave the ignition off and the steering wheel lock off. To me, this infers that you leave the key in the ignition. Am I correct or do you remove the key and hope the steering wheel doesn't turn far enough to engage the lock. I would appreciate any input or experience. Thanks.

RE: Kodiak VIN Codes

Thanks Roger. More helpful. The 'Decoding Modern Car VINs' provided the most information, although primarily for cars, it filled in most of the blanks that I had. Some questions remain and for those I will call GM. Thanks again.
